COLLECTING ESSENTIALS FOR ELLICOTT CITY: Let's help keep #ECStrong! We are collecting essentials for the Ellicott City flood victims. Come fill the drop off boxes at the bottom of the Center Street staircase in The Cove. Items most in need: water, cleaning supplies, flashlights, non-perishables. We will be taking these items this Thursday to the Howard County Food Bank. Financial donations may be made through the Community Action Council of Howard County.
MARKET-TO-MEALTIME FOOD PREP & NUTRITION DEMO: Join our local Maryland Extension FSNE Food Educator, Terry, as she demonstrates how to prepare farm-fresh fruits and veggies found at the market. Enjoy samples, get the recipe, and savor the nutritious goodness.
MUSIC AT THE MARKET: 3:30PM-6:00PM - Our featured local musician will be Steven Gellman! Recognized by BILLBOARD MAGAZINE as an “Essential for fans of sensitive acoustic music.... Gellman has sort of a John Denver-ish voice in the way he hangs on to a note and floats the vibrato and carries the sentiment of his lyrics.”
VENDORS AT THE MARKET: Our vendors slated to be at the market this Wednesday, May 30*, are:
*Our Pizza Llama, Andrew, sends his regrets this week, he is unable to make it to the market. He said he's lookin' forward to serving up some fresh, wood-fired pizza next Wednesday, June 6, for all of us! Also ... did you know that Jessica's Snowballs is now located in the corner of the lot nearby the market? Be sure to visit Jessica's Snowballs while you're at the market this Wednesday!
TODAY'S RECIPE: Strawberry-Sweet Biscuit Trifle ~ Mmm-Mmm! Straight from Southern Living's strawberry recipes, this fantastic trifle recipe is layered with cream, strawberries, and sugar biscuits, which gives this great dessert a strawberry shortcake feel. Serve this at your next gathering and it's sure to be a hit. How could it possibly miss? It has the great, rich flavor of biscuits that have been sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon; a custard made with egg yolks, half-and-half, and milk; and two-and-a-half pounds of strawberries. That is a whole lot of fresh fruit. This is a sweet, seasonal treat in every decadent, delicious bite.
