The 2020 Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market runs on Wednesdays, 3-7 PM. Each volunteer will be asked to work in on or two shifts, some positions such as runners and tear-down may overlap. We need at least four runners and four gatekeepers per market day.
Set-up Crew Member: 1-3 PM - Help set up market including setting up tents, tables, cones, bicycle rack barriers, hand washing station, sanitize rails, set up signage at market, cones, bicycle rack barriers, and other duties as needed to set up.
Gatekeeper: 3-5 PM & 5-7 PM - There are two sides to the market, 10 people in addition to the vendors and runners are allowed in the market. After 10 people, it's one out and then one in. Each patron, market staff, runner and vendors are required to keep a six foot distance. You will be asked to remind everyone of the importance of the 6 foot social distancing and wearing PPE.
Runner: 3-5 PM & 5-7 PM - A runner will help with gathering the C.S.A. Package Orders from the market vendors and take them to the CSA Pick-up Table or to the Patron's Cars in a "no-touch" manner, wearing gloves and masks using crates that are sanitized before and after each use. You will be responsible for assisting to keep flow of the market running in an efficient and safe manner.
Delivery: Times Vary - We are considering offering a limited delivery option within five miles of the market site for those who are home-bound or immunocompromised. If we do offer this option, it would require you to have a valid driver's license, to use your own vehicle and keep to our no-touch delivery rules. A sanitized crate would be placed in your vehicle with packages to deliver. You would be wearing a mask when you are in your car and within 6 feet of the packages and you will use gloves to handle the packages. You would let the individual know you're in route and would deliver them to their address, in an outside location.
Tear-Down: 6:45-7:45 PM - The market closes at 7 PM, but arrive 15 minutes early. Tearing down the market and putting it to bed each week usually takes around 30-45 minutes depending on number of volunteers. You would be responsible for assisting with disassembling the market, take down tents, tables, cones, bicycle rack barriers, handwashing station, remove signage and placing everything appropriately in storage.
