Assistant Farmers' Market Manager/Internship Position - 5-6 hours per week, Tuesdays/Wednesdays, Hours vary based upon need, Stipend
The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Farmers' Market Manager will be supporting the Market Master and experienced Volunteer Staff on-site at the Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market, Wednesdays, June-September 2021. The Assistant Farmers' Market Manager will help with various customer transactions, work alongside farmers' market vendors, assist with the set-up and breakdown of the farmers market, provide excellent customer service, and assume other farmers market-related responsibilities as assigned.
Characteristics of a good candidate:
• Must be willing to work Tuesday evenings/Wednesday afternoons (hours vary - 5-6 hours per week)
• A good candidate should be passionate about local food, regional agriculture, and sustainability
• A good candidate is energetic, and brings a positive attitude to the farmers' market
• Demonstrates a good working relationship with others including vendors - farmers and producers and volunteer staff
• Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing and decision-making
• Skills in working with others to mitigate conflict
• Customer service experience and familiarity with various payment software is a plus
• Associates degree from a College/University a plus as well as a agricultural communications/marketing background
