We are seeking at least 7 volunteers (3 gatekeepers, 4 runners) to start the season on opening day, Wednesday, June 3rd. Positions available: Gatekeepers, Runners, Set-up Crew and Tear-Down Crew. Preorder weekly select packages offered by our farmers and producers who will have a wide variety of farm-fresh, locally grown & produced, value-added and prepared food. Some options for buying directly from the farmers and producers at the market while keeping a safe and healthy social distance will be allowed as the market will remain open to the public, in a regulated fashion but we also understand individuals may not feel comfortable attending. COVID 19 Precautions at the Market. We believe that the Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market is an essential food resource, and plays an integral part in our local food system and economy. The Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market offers a safe, healthy and sanitary environment, complete with handwashing stations, hand sanitizer. Masks must be worn by all who enter the market space, Staff, Volunteers and Patrons. Many of the precautions recommended by the CDC to reduce transmission of the coronavirus COVID-19 are things our vendors are well versed in. Safe food handling is an important practice required by all the Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market vendors. Things like staying home when you’re sick, rigorous hand washing, wearing masks and gloves to mitigate spreading germs, and so on are all things our expert vendors have practiced until they are second nature. All the Market vendors are required to abide by all food safety laws and regulations. Our vendors are taking extreme food safety precautions, and MAMSFM has increased sanitation stations at the market to include a controlled safe, healthy and sanitized environment for our community. The Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market was formed in 2007 and is a production of the Mount Airy Main Street Association in partnership with the Town of Mount Airy.
