Volunteer for the Mount Airy
Main Street Farmers' Market
Wednesdays . 3-7PM .June 7-September 27, 2023 with Garden Market on May 31
Volunteers are essential to the success of Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market and a vital part of our customer service. The Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market is seeking at least 12 volunteers this season to take part in assisting the Market Staff with our Wednesday Market. While the statewide mandates set by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to mitigate COVID-19 have been relaxed and lifted, we request that everyone entering the market show respect for our community.
The 2023 Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market runs on Wednesdays, 3-7 PM, June - September with a preseason Garden Market on May 31. Each volunteer will be asked to work in one or two shifts, some positions such as runners and tear-down may overlap. We need at least four runners and four gatekeepers per market day.
Set-up Crew Member: 1-3 PM - Help set up market including setting up tents, tables, cones, bicycle rack barriers, hand washing station, sanitize rails, set up signage at market, cones, bicycle rack barriers, and other duties as needed to set up.
Gatekeeper (Greeter): 3-5 PM & 5-7 PM - There are two sides to the market. Stationed at the MAMSA tent, you will assist patrons in the market place. While restrictions have been lifted or relaxed, we are still encouraging safe practices such as social distancing, hand-washing/sanitation.
Runner: 3-5 PM & 5-7 PM - A runner will help with market vendors and help patrons take packages to their vehicles. You will be responsible for assisting to keep flow of the market running in an efficient and safe manner.
Tear-Down: 6:45-7:45 PM - The market closes at 7 PM, but arrive 15 minutes early. Tearing down the market and putting it to bed each week usually takes around 30-45 minutes depending on number of volunteers. You would be responsible for assisting with disassembling the market, take down tents, tables, cones, bicycle rack barriers, handwashing station, remove signage and placing everything appropriately in storage.
