Listen to the jingle and the rumble and the roar.  She's rollin' through New England to the West Pacific shore.
It's a long time we've been waitin', now she's been whistlin' 'round the bend. Roll on into Congress on that Farmer-Labor train.

TODAY'S RECIPE & NUTRITION TIP!  Salted Duck Egg Salad from Delicious.com. Salted duck eggs, a traditional Chinese delicacy, have an intriguing texture and taste deliciously rich and salty. Try them out in this simple salad. Find your duck eggs and whole ducks from Maryland Duck Co. and at the same time at the same tent, pick up a bottle or two of Libertas Estates Wines!
What are the Health Benefits of Duck Eggs? According to Nourish by WebMD,  "Duck eggs are larger than chicken eggs, with a larger yolk-to-white ratio that makes them ideal for baked goods. Golden in color and rich in flavor, baked goods made with duck eggs tend to be moist and fluffy, rise better, and hold their shape well. Duck eggs are preferred over chicken eggs for cream and custard fillings because they contain less water and more fat. . . . However you serve them, duck eggs are an excellent source of nutrition. Their dark yellow yolk indicates that they hold more antioxidants, more omega-3 fatty acids, and 50% more vitamin A than chicken eggs."

Be sure to visit all of our amazing farmers and producers as listed above, and cool your core with a Jessica's Snowball while you're at the Market this Wednesday!

TODAY'S RECIPE & NUTRITION TIP! Damson Plum Upside-Down Cake from Great British Chefs. Try this easy-to make but exquisite looking upside down cake with Damson plums! What a seasonal treat, everyone will love it! Find your Blue Damson Plums at Five Points Farm this Wednesday!

What's a Damson Plum and how can you tell the difference between Damson's  regular plums!
Damsons are longer in shape than plums. They generally have deep blue skins and they are spicier and more tart, making them better for cooking. They're a popular pick for jam making. Damsons also have a reputation for being hardier, thanks to their wild ancestry. They are more forgiving and even less fussy than European plums – but they are susceptible to silver leaf disease. Ripening occurs slowly in September and October.  Learn more about Damsons by reading Gardening Etc.'s article "Greengages, plums and damsons – what's the difference?"
