Please look for us to return next Wednesday, 3-7 PM, September 8th when know Mother Nature will grant us sunnier weather!

Please note we will continue to be a Rain, Shine or Heat of Day market . . . This is only the third time in six years weather has shut down the market.  With the path that Tropical Depression Ida is taking,  including heavy rains with possible tornadoes ensuing during the afternoon into late evening, the market's vendors, staff and volunteers unanimously decided to cancel the September 1 market for everyone's safety.

Feeling nastogic! Did you get the connection?  Whoever gets the connection to the above image and

TODAY'S RECIPE & NUTRITION TIP!  Caprese Style Hasselback Roma Tomatoes. " Use the hasselback technique to upgrade plain caprese salad with this fun twist! Cutting partially into the whole tomato creates openings to layer in fresh mozzarella cheese, basil and a balsamic drizzle for tons of flavor in this unique vegetable side dish recipe.

Find your Roma Tomatoes, Cheese & Basil at the Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market this Wednesday, August 25th.

BASIL - Learn 12 Cool Facts About Basil! Basil is by far my most favorite herb in the world.  Many use it in everything from pesto to  to salads to vinaigrettes and fruity smoothies. You can even make little bouquets of flowers mixed in oregano, purple and green basil sprigs to keep on your kitchen counter.  In addition to these facts, learn about how using basil can help keep you healthy!  Per Medical News Today, Basil may provide health benefits in the diet, as herbal medicine, and as an essential oil. Traditional uses (Trusted Source) include the treatment of snakebites, colds, and inflammation within nasal passages — a common effect of colds, for example. Basil provides some macronutrients, such as calcium and vitamin K, as well as a range of antioxidants.

Be sure to visit all of our amazing farmers and producers as listed above, and cool your core with a Jessica's Snowball while you're at the Market this Wednesday!

COVID 19 Updates: Our patrons may still place preorders for pick-up at the market during 2021.  While the statewide mandates set by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to mitigate  COVID-19  have been relaxed and lifted, the Delta variant is still on the rise. If you are not vaccinated, we encourage you to wear a mask to protect yourself and others. We request that everyone entering the market show respect for our community. Our patrons, vendors and farmers' market team appreciate it.

We encourage  social distancing, and hand washing/sanitation while on-site at the market. Our vendors who are serving samples and prepared food will still wear masks to protect the public; however, we leave the choice to you to mask up. Patience is appreciated as we navigate health and safety practices as we recover from uncertain times. As Spock would say, "Live Long and Prosper." That's what we want for you, so come Buy Local and Eat Fresh and Healthy, and spend time outside with us at the 2021 Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market!

Do you know . . . What a stone fruit is?
A stone fruit, or drupe, is a type of fruit that contains one large “stone” or “pit.” The stone itself isn’t the seed, though it’s commonly misidentified as one. The actual seed is found inside the stone. The thin-skinned, fleshy fruits are often sweet in flavor. Common stone fruits are peaches, nectarines, cherries, plums, and apricots. Believe it or not, Blackberries are considered Stone Fruit! Learn more, check out "What is Stone Fruit" from MyRecipes.com!

COVID 19 Updates: Our patrons may still place preorders for pick-up at the market during 2021.  While the statewide mandates set by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to mitigate  COVID-19  have been relaxed and lifted as of July 1st, COVID-19 is still present and there may be variants. We are on the 45-day grace period. Therefore,  we request that everyone entering the market show respect for our community.
