We're in the Railyard behind the historic Mount Airy train station at 3 North Main Street, Mount Airy, MD 21771. Convenient parking is available in upper and lower the Bank Parking Lots across Main Street and up in the Municipal Parking Lot off of Park Avenue.
Have you tried Whispering Breeze Farm's Cheese? It's made from milk locally produced by Whispering Breeze Farm's happy cows in nearby Taneytown! Whispering Breeze Farm sells cheese, eggs and meat - beef, pork, chicken & turkey. Check them out this Wednesday at the Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market!
MUSIC AT THE MARKET ~ 4-6PM: Sara Horsfall ... Enjoy listening to Sara on the classical guitar playing some old time classics (in the public domain). Her music and the market just go together like Grapes to Wine; and like The Urban Winery's Wine, it goes with everything! It'll be a treat to have her music back at the market this Wednesday. Look for Sara to perform the second Wednesdays of the each month through September!
STORYTIME AT THE MARKET ~ 4:30-4:45 PM: Join us as local storyteller, Laura Zaborowski, reads "Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp," Carol Diggory Shields and vibrantly illustrated by Scott Nash. Have you ever wondered what the dinosaurs did for fun? What really happened when the Jurassic gang wanted to let off some steam? They danced, of course! They rocked and rolled, they twirled and tromped! They had themselves a Dinosaur Stomp! With illustrations by Scott Nash that leap off the page like a raptor doing the fandango, Carol Diggory Shields tells dinosaur devotees all about reptilian revelry in verses with a foot-tapping, tail-whacking beat. (Imagine a little Cajun music in the background.). Laura will be reading and telling stories on select afternoons around 4:30 p.m. on the train station's platform stage at the 2021 Mount Airy Main Street Farmers’ Market! Great for Kid of All Ages, but even better for ages 4-8! Sponsored by The Last Word Bookstore.
VENDORS AT THE MARKET: Our Farmers and Producers, and passionate community members this Wednesday,
August 11th, are slated to be:
TODAY'S RECIPE & NUTRITION TIP! Perfect Grilled Eggplant from The Spruce Eats ~ "Grilled eggplant can be one of the great treats of summer—lusciously tender eggplant, with bits of crispy charred edges here and there. It works on its own, as part of a grilled vegetable platter, or even as a stand-in for a meat patty in burgers. . . . This easy recipe uses the power of salted water (or brining) to guarantee great grilled eggplant. " Find your Eggplant at the Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market this Wednesday, August 11th.
According to WebMD, Eggplant is fat-free, it possesses antioxidants like vitamins A and C, and is a great source for potassium and fiber.
Did you know that . . .?
COVID 19 Updates: Our patrons may still place preorders for pick-up at the market during 2021. While the statewide mandates set by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to mitigate COVID-19 have been relaxed and lifted as of July 1st, COVID-19 is still present and there may be variants. We are on the 45-day grace period. Therefore, we request that everyone entering the market show respect for our community. Our patrons, vendors and farmers' market team appreciate it.
We encourage social distancing, and hand washing/sanitation while on-site at the market. Our vendors who are serving samples and prepared food will still wear masks to protect the public; however, we leave the choice to you to mask up. Patience is appreciated as we navigate health and safety practices as we recover from uncertain times. As Spock would say, "Live Long and Prosper." That's what we want for you, so come Buy Local and Eat Fresh and Healthy, and spend time outside with us at the 2021 Mount Airy Main Street Farmers' Market!
Remember to Make it Memorable on Main Street! Shop. Dine. Tour & Enjoy! Find time to support a Main Street business when you can. A list of Main Street merchants can be found on the Mount Airy Main Street Association's Website.
